A Group Travel Organiser Special Recognition Award was launched at this year’s British Tourism & Travel Show to coincide with Group Travel Organiser Day on 22 March.
Mary Gotts (pictured centre) was presented with the award on the second day of the show to acknowledge her high level of hard work and dedication to the sector.
The award, created in partnership with the Association of Group Travel Organisers (AGTO), was presented to Ms Gotts by BTTS Event Director David Maguire and AGTO CEO Wendy Hartley-Scarff.
Says Mr Maguire: “GTOs can often be undervalued, arranging group trips on a voluntary basis but are held with high esteem by many within the travel trade.
“We therefore launched a search to find the top GTO in the country according to our exhibitors, AGTO Associate Members and the wider travel trade, and the response we received was overwhelming.
“Following careful consideration, I am delighted that Mary Gotts is the winner.”
The nomination form submitted for Ms Gotts highlighted many of the reasons why she was a deserving winner: ‘Mary is methodical, professional and very caring towards her group, always offering them her time for advice and assistance. She works tirelessly to ensure her group have the best holidays ever. It is always a pleasure to work with Mary and her group.’
