The IRTE Skills Challenge 2023 is shaping up to be the best yet. Apprentices and technicians from a host of companies will be testing their skills to find the best in coach and bus.
Already signed up are Arriva, First Bus, Go-Ahead London, Lothian Buses, National Express, Metroline, Reading Buses and Trentbarton. Entrants from newcomers Excel Resourcing are also lining up to show their talent. The buzz is back this year, and we’ve extended the closing date to 22 May to accommodate requests for last-minute entries. Companies can enter apprentices and qualified technicians, in teams or as individuals.
The Challenge is made possible by sponsors and partners that are committed to supporting training and development in the industry. Long-term backers Knorr-Bremse and Filtration Control were quick to contribute again this year, with DVSA also lending its support once again.
DVSA Chief Executive, Loveday Ryder, says of the Challenge: “I really do think it gives us a chance to help and support the industry, showcasing what it can do. What people are learning by testing themselves and learning from each other is just so important.”
The competition takes place at S&B Automotive Academy in Bristol on 5-9 June, with each company attending on one day. All entrants are invited to join sponsors and special guests at the Awards Lunch at Jaguar Experience Castle Bromwich on 7 September.
