Rochdale-based manufacturer Mellor has expanded its sales team with the appointment of Peter McFarlane (pictured) as Sales Manager for Scotland and Ireland. He will report to Mellor National Sales Manager Stephen Haywood.
Peter brings 25 years of sales experience to the role, which includes 12 months with Arriva. As well as focussing on expansion in Scotland and Northern Ireland, Peter will use his background in healthcare to represent Treka accessible bus products in his sales portfolio, supported by Treka Sales Director Helen Ross.
“Having a background in healthcare, I am well acquainted with the need for accessible vehicles among local authorities and the wider customer base north of the border,” Peter says. “I’m also very much looking forward to developing the Mellor and Treka brands throughout Scotland and Ireland.”
There is further product development ahead for Mellor, and the company reveals that its growing electric bus range (including the recently launched Orion E23 and Maxima E23) is proving attractive to Scottish local authorities looking to replace vehicles under Scottish Ultra-Low Emission Bus Scheme (SULEBS) funding.
“I intend to develop good relationships with Scottish local authorities and to demonstrate where Mellor really can deliver a size- and cost-appropriate transport solution,” says Peter. “I am very focussed on ensuring our expanding electric bus range is firmly on the radar for operators as they consider SULEBS.”
Peter is of the opinion that having an accessible bus in every operator’s fleet is “good transport sense” and that operators should be inspired to embrace inclusivity. “Our product range offers ideal solutions for size-appropriate and demand responsive transport requirements,” he adds.
