Matthew Ashton has become Area MD of Arriva-owned, Yorkshire Tiger, operating in the west of the county.
He replaces Simon Finnie who is leaving the business.
Mr Ashton is the first Arriva graduate trainee to be appointed to a board position, having joined the general management graduate scheme in 2011.
The fast-track programme aims to develop managers and provide them with an extensive understanding of the operational issues within the industry.
He was previously Head of Commercial at Arriva Yorkshire, responsible for business growth and developing an innovative network of services.
Regional Managing Director Nigel Featham says: “It shows how far our graduate programme can take you. It has been fantastic to see Matthew’s progression and I wish him every success.”
Added Mr Ashton: “I am thrilled to be appointed area managing director for Yorkshire Tiger. Since joining I have worked closely with many departments across the business, getting to know our colleagues and customers.
“I look forward to building on these relationships, as well as strengthening Yorkshire Tiger’s commitment to provide welcoming and affordable bus travel to our customers across Yorkshire.”
