Operator refreshes brand but says it ‘does not want to lose any of the loyalty that has been built up’
Newbury and District, which was acquired by municipal operator Reading Buses in September 2018, has unveiled a new brand that will be seen for the first time by customers on Monday 4 March.
Buses will retain the recognisable Newbury and District black, but to that will be added a lime accent to bring a degree of commonality with the Kennections livery, which is also owned by Reading Buses.
Says CEO Robert Williams: “While we are trying to bring the Newbury and District brand into the Reading Buses family, we don’t want to lose any of the loyalty that has been built up over the last few years.
“Our research suggests that the Newbury and District name is well respected. Reading Buses can genuinely say that we have been operating buses in the area since 1932.” The municipal operator runs the Jet Black service to Newbury from its home town in the Thames Valley.
The operator adds that the revised Newbury and District branding will eventually be seen throughout the business – on letterheads, on depot signage and on an improved website. Vehicles will continue to be rebranded over the coming months. The first bus to be treated is an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 and the whole exercise is expected to be completed in the summer.
