Thomas ‘George’ Evans, founder of Longmynd Travel in Shropshire, has died at the age of 91.

Mr Evans set up the business with his wife, Joan, in 1973, with one vehicle on a schools contract. He worked on the business until around the age of 80.

With daughter Val Sheppard-Evans now at the helm, the business has since grown to operate 22 coaches.

Longmynd Travel, which was named after the local landmark Long Mynd, was established in Snailbeach on the edge of the Shropshire Hills and later moved to Lea Cross, near Shrewsbury.

The funeral will take place on Saturday 22 March at 11.30am Shrewsbury Crematorium, with family flowers only requested.
