Reading Buses is looking to appoint its charity of the year 2022 and is inviting nominations.
The charity partner can be local or national but, according to Reading Marketing and Communications Manager Jake Osman, it must have a “strong local presence”.
“We know that charities have, like all sectors, been hard hit by the pandemic and need a lot of support,” he adds. “We are therefore looking to start a new partnership in 2022 with a dynamic charity that can benefit from our local presence.”
That presence includes buses which carry over 20 million passengers per year. The chosen charity will have its design liveried onto one of the company’s buses, where it can be used on any route. All routes will run with with charity bus screens and posters and the company will support the charity with social media posts.
Employees will also work to raise funds for the nominated charity.
Explains Jake: “The main fundraising activity is our popular open day which we are looking forward to re-starting in July 2022 following the cancellation of the previous two years due to COVID-19 restrictions.”
The open day generates around £10,000 for the chosen charity partner. “This is a golden opportunity for one of our local charities to benefit from a superb event as well as the enthusiastic endeavours of Reading Buses employees,” adds Jake.
