Finalists in each sub-category of the routeone livery competition have been named. The latest step in the contest comes ahead of decisions by an independent judge that will see three operators receive a free vehicle repaint courtesy of partners Bus & Coach World and PPG.
After entries closed in early July, a poll among routeone subscribers ran until 31 July to arrive at the shortlisted finalists. Over 3,000 votes were cast, with some sub-categories seeing a winner chosen by the smallest of margins.
The contest now moves to the judging phase, via which the independent adjudicator will select the winners in overarching coach, bus, and mini/midi categories. The finalists are:
Best bus livery:
- Small operator: Northstar Bus, presented on a Dennis Trident/Alexander ALX400
- Medium operator: Thames Valley Buses, presented on an Alexander Dennis Enviro400
- Large operator: Brighton & Hove Buses, presented on an Alexander Dennis Enviro400.
Best coach livery:
- Small operator: Jones International, presented on a Mercedes-Benz Tourismo
- Medium operator: Glen Valley Tours, presented on a Neoplan Tourliner
- Large operator: Edwards Coaches, presented on a Mercedes-Benz Tourismo.
Best mini/midi livery:
- Small operator: Star Coaches, presented on a DAF LF/Noone Turas 900S
- Medium/large operator: Mountain Goat Tours, presented on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.
All shortlisted entries are illustrated below. The three winners will be named on 13 August. Each will then be contacted with details of how to redeem their free vehicle repaint. Those prizes could not be provided without the support of partners Bus & Coach World and PPG.
Bus & Coach World will carry out the repaint at its well-equipped Blackburn premises. It offers comprehensive painting, repair, refurbishment, retrimming and bodybuilding services, having worked with clients across the industry for over 50 years on numerous in-depth projects. Its modern and traditional offering “is designed to accommodate your every need,” the business says.
PPG is a global supplier of paints, coatings, and specialty materials. It will provide paint from its next-generation Delfleet One system. That allows accurate livery recreation via market-leading stability and world-renowned colour matching technology to assure quality results. PPG also enjoys a longstanding relationship with the coach and bus sector.
routeone congratulates all finalists in the Livery Competition, and thanks each participating operator for their submission.
