Lothian Buses has reported a 5.1% increase in revenue for 2018, but passenger numbers over the same period for the group, including its subsidiaries, fell by 1.6%. It blames congestion and changing travel habits for that decline.
Despite congestion difficulties, the operator reported a very slight reduction in lost mileage. It also saw lower driver turnover, at 6%.
Lothian purchased 91 buses in 2018. It reports that, with “rapidly changing emission regulations driving fleet replacement,” the bus depreciation term has been reduced to 12 years from 15 years.
