Shearings Leisure Group (SLG) has appointed Richard Calvert as CEO; replaces Denis Wormwell who resigned last October.
He joins in the spring, meanwhile Deputy CEO and CFO Gary Speakman continues to head the business on an interim basis.
Mr Calvert spent three years until 2011 as UK MD Mainstream Tour Operations at Thomas Cook. Previously holding senior posts at First Choice and Tui, he is currently CEO of US-owned Celebration Travel Group.
He says: “I am looking forward to bringing my expertise to the group as we look to build on our performance.”
Other new roles include Chris Hannon (previously the operations director at Kew Green Hotels) as Commercial Director for Coast and Country Hotels and Steve Seddon (previously Head Of Marketing, Digital and Sales at Scenic) as Marketing Director.
SLG Chairman Grant Hearn says: “Richard joins at a time of growing momentum and opportunity across our businesses.”
In 2016 the group, which is backed by Lone Star, announced its third successive year of growth in revenues, profits and passenger numbers on the back of strong demand for UK holidays.
The company confirmed trading had remained positive, thanks to a continued focus on diversifying its holiday offering with quality product and by broadening its customer base.
