A Stagecoach bus carrying a small amount of passengers suffered an engine fire last week (30 October) in Castle Douglas.

The emergency service put out the fire, and nobody was injured – but the bus was badly damaged.

A spokeswoman for Stagecoach says: “One of our buses operating on Service 500 from Stranraer to Dumfries, suffered an engine fire while in Castle Douglas this afternoon.

“Upon detecting a problem, the driver pulled over and ensured the small number of passengers onboard exited the bus safely. Safety is our absolute priority.”
