China’s world-famous Terracotta Warriors will be returning to the UK in 2018, hosted by Liverpool’s World Museum.
It will be the first time in more than 30 years that the Class 1 National Cultural Treasures, from the tomb of China’s First Emperor, Qin Shihuangdi, will be brought to a museum in the UK outside London.
The announcement was made during a visit by Secretary of State Karen Bradley MP to the First Emperor’s burial site and tomb complex near Xi’an, as part of the UK-China People to People Dialogue.
Ms Bradley says: “The Terracotta Army represents one of the most significant archaeological excavations of the 20th century, and I am delighted that a selection of the warriors will be coming to Liverpool for the first time in 2018.”
