Stertil Koni Skylift 200 meets wash needs

First Cymru has installed a Stertil Koni Skylift 200 vehicle lift for use at its Port Talbot depot.

The Skylift 200 has a safe lifting capacity of 20 tonnes. First Cymru’s is installed in Port Talbot’s outdoor wash bay. There, it ensures unobstructed access to the undersides of vehicles during regular body and chassis cleaning.

In this application the Stertil Koni Skylift 200 is made of galvanised steel for maximum strength and resistance to water and degreasing solutions. It utilises an electronically controlled hydraulic system that includes inclinometers to monitor weight distribution and provide smooth lifting.

The eight-metre platform safely accommodates every vehicle in First Cymru’s fleet. The lift’s narrow width permits the most efficient use of space. Extra-long run-up ramps have been incorporated to prevent any grounding issues when manoeuvring low-floor buses onto the lift.

Says First Cymru Area Engineering Manager for East Wales Keith Davies: “We have a number of Stertil Koni lifts in our workshop and we know them to be reliable.

“With the installation of the new wash bay lift, the 92 vehicles at our depot are perfectly prepared for MoT testing and inspections. They also continue to look smart when out on the road.”

The Skylift 200 has an independent mechanical locking system. It is always active, from when the lift is at its lowest level to when it reaches maximum height.

The new lift for First Cymru has replaced an existing Stertil Koni wash bay lift that “has served us well for many years,” adds Keith.
