Go-Ahead subsidiary Metrobus has upgraded its contactless payment acceptance by taking advantage of tap on and off functionality for most adult tickets.
It is the latest of several operators to opt for Ticketer’s capability. Customers no longer need to tell the driver where they are going. Instead, they tap their contactless card or phone on the ticket machine reader when boarding. They repeat the process when alighting.
The cost of travel is automatically calculated and debited from passengers’ bank accounts by the end of the day.
Says Commercial Director Nick Hill: “We’re always looking for ways to make things easier for customers. This is a natural part of that. It should also speed boarding and keep buses moving.”
