A deal between Bakers Travel, its subsidiary Harrington Coaches, and the Tundo Vincenzo group – one of Italy’s largest operators – has come to an end.
The deal was announced in January (routeONE, News 17 January) along with plans that would triple the size of the Biddulph, Staffordshire-based firm.
Enrico Tundo has resigned as a Director of Bakers Travel; Tundo signs have been removed from the depot, and reports say that council contracts Bakers Travel had won, have yet to be started.
In a short statement, Bakers Sales Director Debbie Windle told routeONE: “I can confirm that the Tundo deal is no longer proceeding.” No explanation for the collapse of the deal, at the time said to be completed, has been given.
Bakers has 35 staff running 20 vehicles and according to Companies House remains under the ownership of Hino Coaches, owned by Boyan Chen and Junlu He and whose sole director is Mrs Windle.
