East Midlands operator Trentbarton has ordered 10 new Yutong GT12 coaches for its flagship Derby-Nottingham Red Arrow express service, to be supplied by Pelican Bus and Coach.

The move will mean more than a quarter of the company’s vehicles have been replaced in the past three years as part of a £13 million investment programme aimed at improving service quality and reducing environmental impact.

The GT12s offer 53 seats, USB charging points, wheelchair access and onboard wi-fi.

Pelican says the vehicles will “bring long-distance comfort” to commuters, leisure travellers and visitors to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre.

Comments Tom Morgan, Managing Director of Trentbarton: “Backed by our ongoing investment in our team, training and technology, we are wholly focused on boosting the nation’s number one public transport choice. We want to continue offering the highest quality service, delivered by to our best-in-the-business drivers, and that means continuously refreshing our fleet. We’re sure our customers will appreciate Red Arrow’s upgrade, and that in turn will encourage more people to see the bus as the best, greenest and most relaxing and productive way to travel.”

Ian Downie, Head of Yutong UK at Pelican adds: “Pelican is honoured to receive this order from Trentbarton for our GT12 coaches.

“The continuous investment in our UK coach product underlines our commitment to the UK coaching industry. The professionalism, commitment and enthusiasm from the Trentbarton team further evidences that they are a really good bus company.”
