National Express West Midlands has announced the appointment of Antony Goozee as its new Managing Director.

Mr Goozee steps into the top role with more than three decades of experience in the public transport sector. That includes seven years with National Express West Midlands as Bus Strategy and Commercial Director, and prior to that, several senior directorships at Rotala Group.

His appointment comes as the company navigates growing momentum around franchising and decarbonisation. In his new position Mr Goozee will be tasked with maintaining operational reliability while steering broader strategic goals, which include its competitive positioning in the UK bus market.

“I’m proud to take on the role of Managing Director at such an important time for public transport in the West Midlands,” Mr Goozee says.

“As a leading bus operator, we take great pride in running bus services across the region, carrying more than 4.5 million passengers every week. With significant investment in our zero-emissions fleet and a growing focus on enhancing service excellence, we have a real opportunity to innovate, collaborate and continually prove our value as a trusted partner.

“We have an incredible team who go above and beyond to deliver vital services for our customers every day, and I’m committed to giving them the tools, support and recognition they need to succeed and grow.”

Adds Kevin Gale, CEO, National Express UK, Ireland and Germany: “I am pleased to appoint Antony to lead our UK Bus operations. His extensive experience and strategic insight will be instrumental as we work with regional transport partners to deliver more efficient, reliable, and sustainable public transport services for communities across the West Midlands, and beyond.”
