Spanish coachbuilder Sunsundegui has appointed Felix Aramendia (pictured) as General Manager. He has been promoted from a previous dual role of Technical Director and Deputy General Manager and succeeds José Ignacio Murillo, who is now Chief Executive.
Mr Aramendia thus takes up responsibility for all day-to-day business at Sunsundegui. Mr Murillo has moved to head strategic matters, including long-term development of the OEM.
Mr Aramendia has many years of automotive experience. He has been part of the Sunsundegui management team for 12 of those, having been appointed as Director of Operations in 2010 and then as Technical Director in 2014. In the latter role he was responsible for Sunsundegui’s engineering, purchasing, quality and aftersales disciplines.
As General Manager, Mr Aramendia will lead ongoing modernisation of facilities, technological development and other improvements. The manufacturer – which works with Volvo Bus UK and Ireland – says that Mr Murillo’s efforts as General Manager turned the Spanish business “into a solvent, innovative, sustainable and expanding bodybuilder.”
Adds Mr Murillo: “We have managed to overcome great challenges in recent years, and we have promoted promising projects that, thanks to the efforts of a great team of professionals and the trust that our customers place in our services and vehicles, have allowed us to lead Sunsundegui to the forefront of the sector.
“I am convinced that Sunsundegui will continue to progress and achieve new successes under the direction of Felix Aramendia and, of course, I will be there to accompany him.”
In right-hand drive form for the UK and Ireland, Sunsundegui builds the SB3 and SC5 models on Volvo B8R chassis and the SC7 on B11R.
