EvoBus (UK) has confirmed that Dr Jens Heinemann (pictured) took up the post of CEO from previous head Michael Thielmann in October after Mr Thielmann’s retirement.
Dr Heinemann – who the Coventry-based dealership says has previously been known as Mr Setra during part of his time as part of Daimler Truck’s premium coach brand – achieved a doctorate at the University of St Gallen. He joined Daimler AG in 2002, first working in car sales development.
A move to the coach and bus field came in 2011 when Dr Heinemann joined EvoBus. There he led the Setra brand communications team, with a particular focus on the launch the 500 series of coaches.
In 2016 Dr Heinemann moved to sales, initially as Head of Setra Sales Germany but soon with the additional responsibility for the sales of Mercedes-Benz coaches and buses. Since then, he has had a focus on the growing prominence of battery-electric power and its integration within existing fleets.
“With activities such as serving on the board of GBK, a German association of coach operators involved in determining and upholding standards in various sectors and awarding quality marks, Jens demonstrates his commitment to coach tourism and its business models in general,” EvoBus UK says in a brief statement.
Mr Thielmann retired following a career of 38 years with the Daimler and Mercedes-Benz brands. The majority of his time was spent in the coach and bus field, including six years in Singapore where he established a regional office for South East Asia. He took over as EvoBus (UK) CEO in June 2014, with Jens Heinemann succeeding him on 1 October 2022.
