Pelican Bus and Coach has appointed Julie Smith to the position of Customer Projects Manager.
Ms Smith joins from Switch Mobility. She has over 16 years’ experience of key roles in manufacturing and sales, and with Pelican she will work with Head of Yutong UK Ian Downie to support the customer order process from tender to delivery of vehicles.
Speaking about her appointment, Ms Smith says: “When I was approach to joined Pelican and Yutong, I embraced the opportunity wholeheartedly. This is a brilliant time to join the team and I am excited to help to grow the business with our new and existing products.
“I am looking forward to working with existing friends in the industry and building new relationships with suppliers and customers. I have worked with the Pelican team previously as a supplier, and admired Pelican with its passion, commitment, trust, and enthusiasm.
“The added ‘Yorkshire’ element that is the Pelican team is the cherry on the top, and I know from my history as a supplier that with the great team in Castleford, the opportunities are immense. Having fantastic product that is tried, tested and proven is a further bonus.”
Mr Downie has welcomed Julie Smith to the business, noting that Pelican is currently amid the processing of “a number of repeat and new orders.” He continues: “Julie joins us at an exciting time, with a portfolio of zero-emission projects that is unrivalled in the UK.
“Our range convers four different single-deck buses, including airside, a new double-deck, and two zero-emission coaches. We are committed to continuing to invest in people, product and premises.
“The increased UK content, where vehicles are completed in our new £3.5 million sales, production and aftermarket headquarters in Castleford, reflects our continued investment in the UK.”
