A 78-year-old bus driver has been congratulated for his 50-year – and counting – career with Trentbarton.
Avtar Lachhar, also known as Terry, topped the bill at a Trentbarton long service awards, just ahead of colleagues who have clocked up 45 years with the business.
Terry first joined the then Barton Transport as a conductor in July 1967. He got his bus driver’s licence in 1972 and started driving the number 5, which was later rebranded as indigo.
Celebrating 45 years of service are engineer David Rose and driver Melvyn Shaw, both based at Langley Mill.
Each marking 35 years are Derby drivers Paul Boyer and Peter Caudwell, Sutton driver Neil Saunders and Nottingham bodyman Paul Balchin. And with 25 years of service each are Langley Mill driver Scott Smith and Sutton driver Stephen Hayes.
Ian Morgan OBE has been a director for more than three decades of Wellglade Group which owns Trentbarton and other bus operators.
