National Express West Midlands (NXWM) and Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps have recognised the over 40 years’ service given to bus users in the Black Country by Team Leader for Sandwell and Dudley Eric Tromans.
While visiting the operator’s Pensnett depot, the minister presented a certificate from NXWM to Eric honouring his contribution to the smooth running of services.
Eric began his career with a predecessor to NXWM in 1979. He oversees bus stations in Dudley and West Bromwich. The operator says he is described by colleagues as “an iconic figure to drivers and customers.”
Eric’s years of experience, coupled to a commitment to providing the best possible service to customers, means that he is an “expert at juggling things to keep buses running smoothly whenever there are problems on the roads,” the operator continues.
Says NXWM Operations Manager for Wolverhampton and Pensnett Richard Smith: “Eric is a gentleman and his customer service skills are second to none due to the wealth and breadth of knowledge that he has acquired over the years.
“Eric is also a great help to the senior management team. He always gives us feedback and come up with solutions to operational issues. We are very proud of him, and I am glad we could recognise his excellent work with this award.”
