Graham Chivers, former Director of Elstead, Surrey operator Chivers Coaches, died peacefully in hospital on 21 February. He was 83.
Mr Chivers was a coach operator for 48 years between 1964 and 2012. In 2007, he sold the Chivers Coaches private hire book of work and one vehicle to Safeguard Coaches but kept a single home-to-school contract for a further five years before fully retiring in 2012.
Safeguard Coaches Managing Director Andrew Halliday notes that the two businesses maintained a close working relationship and that purchase of the private hire work was completed in anticipation of Mr Chivers’ “well deserved retirement.”
The funeral will be held on Monday 8 April at Guildford Crematorium, New Pond Road, Godalming, GU7 3DB, starting at 1415hrs.
Mr Chivers’ family advise that all are welcome, but have asked for no flowers. Donations in his memory may be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Alzheimer’s Society, if desired.
There is no connection between the Chivers Coaches mentioned above and any other business by that name.
