Stagecoach has been bestowed with the Silver Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) award as part of the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC), an announcement that establishes its dedication towards the UK’s armed forces communities and veterans.
The Silver ERS award is a mark of the company’s ongoing commitment to the values of the AFC and is a step up from its previous status as a bronze member. The award represents a recognition of Stagecoach’s ongoing work with Armed Forces communities and veterans in the UK.
The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme encourages companies to align their core values with the AFC and inspire others to similarly contribute to the defence community. Stagecoach has demonstrated this commitment through various initiatives. The company boasts an employee network of over 100 individuals dedicated to working with the Armed Forces, Veterans and Reservists, who have collaborated to refine the firm’s policies.
Such policies encompass provisions for military reserve training leave, free travel for military and ex-military personnel on Armed Forces Day and Remembrance Day, and the deployment of an AFC branded Poppy Bus to promote the cause. Moreover, Stagecoach has instigated targeted recruitment campaigns and job fairs for individuals transitioning out of the military and into civilian life.
Stagecoach’s Armed Forces Network Co-Lead, Simon Tramalloni, says: “As joint lead for our Armed Forces and Veterans network, it gives me immense pride to be awarded the Armed Forces Covenant Silver Award.”
“Over the last two years we have become further involved with our support for the Armed Forces community including reservists, Cadet Force adult volunteers, recent service leavers and partners of serving personnel. Not only do we provide UK wide free travel on Armed Forces Weekend and Remembrance Days but we also actively recruit from those that are due to leave the forces and advertise our available positions on forces friendly websites.
“This award would not have been possible if it wasn’t for our own employees who themselves are Veterans, reservists and volunteers and their continued commitment and drive to give better opportunities to the wider Armed Forces community and enhance our relationships with our partners. This award is down to their hard work.”
