Uno is the latest operator to name one of its buses after fundraising champion Captain Tom Moore, in celebration of the money he has raised for NHS charities.
At time of writing, the war veteran has raised over £31m. Other operators around the UK have moved to celebrate his centenary birthday celebrations: The Keighley Bus Company has named one of its buses after Tom, and Stagecoach South Wales’ special birthday message will appear tonight (30 April) during a ‘clap for our carers’ event in Merthyr Tydfil.
Commercial Manager at Uno Ed Cameron says: “We’ve been watching the extraordinary fundraising efforts of Captain Tom over the last few weeks and have been astonished at how much he’s raised for our NHS during these very difficult times.
“We wanted to recognise this and express our thanks and felt it a fitting tribute to name one of our buses after him.”
The bus will run routes in Bedfordshire. It is being unveiled for Tom’s 100th Birthday with a special message from the Uno team.
