In regard to last week’s story about the coach driver who was jailed after causing a fatal crash by speeding [routeone/News/11 July], I dismissed a driver after he had been noted allowing the coach to travel downhill at 129kmh for two minutes 13 seconds, loaded.
The vehicle was a 2007 Scania Irizar Century with a fully-functional speed limiter. That is driving with undue care and attention bordering on reckless driving.
As transport managers, it is our duty to monitor and action instances of this nature prior to accidents happening.
