Continental has unveiled its Conti Coach HA 5 tyre. It is the first example of the newly developed Conti Coach Generation 5 line and available at a size of 295/80 R22.5.
The tyre promises what the supplier says is low energy consumption via best-in-class rolling resistance and extended mileage and durability thanks to an advanced tread compound. It is also available as what Continental describes as “an intelligent tyre” equipped with sensor technology.
The Conti Coach HA 5 suits all-axle fitment and is called “the most advanced coach tyre we have ever developed” by Continental Truck Tyres EMEA Head of Product Development Hinnerk Kaiser.
He adds that by combining the tread compound with optimised casing design, the product “is independent of weather conditions” and gives 20% better mileage and 10% lower rolling resistance compared to its predecessor.
Casing construction that is also optimised and a specially developed tread formulation minimise heat buildup in the tyre, which is a contributor to the low rolling resistance. It has an EU label rating of B for both wet grip and rolling resistance.
Influencing wet weather performance is an improved pattern design with pocket sipes that maintain grip under those conditions.
Sensors are fitted as standard when the tyre is produced for original equipment fitment. When it is for replacement markets, the sensors are available on request.
Those units enable digital monitoring and support real-time fleet management, Continental advises. Coach operators can continuously track performance, extend service intervals, and reduce downtime.
“Our goal was to create a tyre that does not force fleet operators to choose between cost efficiency and environmental responsibility,” continues Mr Kaiser. “The Conti Coach HA 5 directly supports operators’ climate targets by lowering fuel usage and emissions, while its durability and retreadability reduce raw material consumption.
“It is a solution designed for both operational performance and measurable environmental benefits.”
