Several customers are testing the latest version of CrewPLAN from Omnibus and they are already benefitting from powerful new features, says the supplier.
CrewPLAN is a system designed to automate the production of crew schedules. It has what Omnibus calls “an unrivalled pedigree with research-based algorithms” that are robust and proven in use.
Developers are finalising a range of enhancements to make the software even more dynamic, flexible and powerful.
CrewPLAN uses a powerful methodology to make scheduling more dynamic. Enhanced functionality has been added to better tackle large and complex problems using a newly developed iterative process.
Other additions include the ability for the user to be specific about the results it wants. Constraints can be included to specify the types and average length of duties within set parameters, giving more flexibility. There is also an enhanced penalty feature to minimise (but not eliminate) undesirability, such as changeovers during peak times.
Yellow Buses in Bournemouth is working with Omnibus to test the enhanced software. Network and Schedules Planner Graham Atkins says that it has already saved the operator time and money while complying with union-specified guidelines.
