Driventic has commenced operation as an independent supplier in the commercial vehicle market having been carved out from parts of the drive systems division of Voith Turbo.
It takes on those Voith solutions in the bus field as well as for other commercial vehicle markets. That includes the supply of DIWA automatic gearboxes and the Vehicle Electrical Drive System (VEDS) that was previously known as the Voith Electrical Drive System.
Both are used by multiple bus manufacturers in the UK market. VEDS 1.5 was introduced in mid-2025, while Wrightbus is about to deliver its first diesel buses with the seven-speed DIWA NXT gearbox.
Driventic says all its products, systems and digital services are technological refinements and advancements of Voith solutions. The new business is headquartered in Heidenheim, which has long been Voith’s base. It employs 1,400 staff at 26 locations in 18 countries.
Creation of Driventic as an independent business is described as “the beginning of a new and exciting chapter,” says CEO Dr Gregor Wiche.
“We are combining the experience and market position we have built up over decades with the agility of a specialised company. This will enable us to respond even faster and more specifically to the requirements and needs of our customers.”
The business adds that it is pursuing a clear growth strategy in both electromobility and conventional transmissions. In the former, Driventic plans to expand the Voith portfolio for buses and heavy-duty fleets “with a focus on powerful, efficient and sustainable systems.”
Growth will be specifically driven in the Americas and Asia Pacific markets alongside expansion of the service business.
Continues Dr Wiche: “Our customers expect an experienced partner that can support the transition to e-mobility while also ensuring the reliability of conventional technologies. With Driventic, we offer both – technological leadership with a global presence and a clear commitment to quality and innovation.”
