To reduce running costs, Allison Transmission recently introduced FuelSense 2.0 software which delivers additional fuel savings of up to 6% – made possible by DynActive Shifting, a new and intelligent way of adapting gear-shifting strategies.
Previously FuelSense relied on fixed shift points pre-programmed from a table of options. Now the DynActive Shifting integrated into FuelSense 2.0 works with an infinitely variable combination of shift points.
To determine how these are varied, the software has a learning algorithm which looks continuously at factors influencing vehicle behaviour such as weight and road gradient.
Reacting to information, the software fine tunes the engine speed at which shifts are made, resulting in customised transmission behavior rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. This achieves the optimal blend of performance and economy.
DynActive Shifting is integrated in all three packages of FuelSense 2.0. The Plus Package also includes ‘Neutral at Stop’ technology, which reduces the load on the engine during low-speed coasting and when stopped. The Max Package also adds customisable Acceleration Rate Management for further, incremental fuel savings.
