PLS will shortly debut two new passenger lift products, including what it says is a “significant advancement” for accessibility provision in the coach sector via the Motus cassette unit.
The Motus lift delivers a 20% reduction in weight and a 65% cut in power consumption compared to previous models in the coach segment, PLS explains. It says that the drop in mass brings benefits to vehicle fuel consumption and passenger and luggage capacity.
An internal powerpack is used on Motus along with “military grade” bearing slides. The lift needs minimal adjustment for installation and it “maximises safety and reliability through enclosed hydraulics and electrical braking,” the manufacturer continues.
Other elements of the Motus lift are auto-levelling and anti-rollback functionality, emergency manual backup, and what is termed a “smart brake.” The latter eliminates the need for many mechanical parts. It thus contributes to the weight reduction while also removing complexity and increasing reliability.
PLS adds that an ergonomic handrail assists boarding, and a robust and low-profile roll stop and bridging plate give secure transition on and off the lift.
Also joining the PLS range is an updated EA Lift. It is an inboard unit that includes three platform options: The vertically split EA-V, the horizontally split EA-H, and the solid EA-S. Modular construction enables rapid installation and maintenance access, while a new punched steel platform is lighter and delivers high traction and easy cleaning.
Speaking about the new products, PLS Managing Director Adam Beck says: “These pioneering models are setting new standards for lift design, performance, safety, and sustainability.
“Focusing on key elements such as reduced weight, lower power consumption and simplified installation, the Motus lift maximises passenger capacity and fuel efficiency while ensuring safe and smooth boarding for all passengers.
“The updated EA Lift, with modular construction and advanced components, delivers optimal stability and durability. PLS continues to shape the future of inclusive transport by leveraging research, innovation, and state-of-the-art manufacturing to provide reliable, versatile lifts that meet the diverse needs of providers and passengers.”
Both new lift models will be displayed at the Busworld Brussels show in early October.
