Stagecoach South has purchased three sets of Stertil-Koni vehicle lifts. One has gone to its Winchester depot as part of a workshop upgrade programme, with two others going to Guildford.
The deal continues a relationship between Stagecoach and Stertil-Koni that began in 2005. The supplier says that Stagecoach selects Stertil-Koni in view of the product’s “numerous benefits.” Those include easy repositioning to allow fast amendment of the workshop layout, and rapid lifting and lowering to boost productivity and minimise vehicle downtime.
Delivered to Winchester is a set of ST1075FWA column lifts, which are cable-free. The lack of cables adds further to the speed of set-up, says Stertil-Koni. It also benefits safety considerations and allows technicians access around vehicles with no hindrances.
Each of the columns has a lifting capacity of 7,500kg. Included is the supplier’s ebright Smart Control System, which allows workshop staff to operate the columns individually, in pairs, or in any other combination, and from any column in the set.
That system uses full colour touch-screen consoles and has been designed to make operations straightforward by providing maximum visual information about every lifting procedure.
Power in the ST1075FWA columns is provided by long-life, deep-cycle batteries that deliver what the supplier says is optimum performance for at least a week before charging. Power is used only to raise a vehicle, prolonging battery life, and charging is carried out by plugging each column into a 230-volt, single-phase supply.
Adjustable forks are supplied with each unit. Vehicles with different wheel sizes and widths can thus be accommodated, maximising versatility.
