Garage equipment specialist Totalkare has completed what the business says is its largest workshop refit project yet, which has been delivered for West Midlands-based RS Recovery.
That has seen the installation of two vehicle inspection pits with an adjoining tunnel, in-ground brake tester and shaker plates; a 10m, 35,000kg Y-MECH lift; eight T8DC mobile column lifts; a headlamp tester; oil hose reel dispensers; and more.
Such a package has significantly enhanced the buyer’s fleet repair and maintenance operations, says Totalkare. The pits will also “significantly improve” inspection capabilities and allow technicians to work beneath vehicles to carry out more complex repair tasks.
Those units are prefabricated to order from lengths of six metres. They come with external walls of 5mm welded recessed steel pressing and a 6mm Durbar floor that is sloped slightly towards a central sump to ensure effective drainage.
The Y-MECH lift has multiple advanced features to maximise productivity. It is available in platform lengths of 6-13m and with lifting capacities of 25,000-35,000kg.
That supplied to RS Recovery is recess-mounted to minimise trip hazards and it has mechanical safety latches and rollover/rollback protection to guarantee maximum safety when the vehicle is raised.
The well-known T8DC column lifts come with adjustable forks to accommodate different wheel sizes and are charged via a 230-volt wall socket. They lift up to 7,500kg per column.
Totalkare’s TK70 in-ground brake tester is claimed by the supplier to be “one of the strongest designs on the market” and can handle a high volume of vehicle throughput. It is supplied with a PC, printer, monitor, cabinet and tablet device, and brake tests can be conducted from the vehicle cab within minutes.
Speaking about the deal, Totalkare Area Sales Manager James Atkins says: “We are pleased to be RS Recovery’s trusted choice for workshop equipment solutions. Our equipment is designed to enhance safety and productivity, and we are confident that it will greatly benefit RS Recovery’s operations.”
