Revised styling, multiplex wiring and MMI system in popular model’s development
Irizar has claimed the Spanish Coach of the Year Award for the third consecutive time with its new i6S, and has also confirmed that the model – a development of the popular i6 – will come to the UK market “in the medium term.”
The i6S continues the Irizar family look and adds an element of the range-topping i8, which was launched in October 2015 at Busworld Kortrijk. The front has new LED headlights, while what Irizar describes as “more pronounced and aggressive lines” are also present.
Rear detailing is more angular and slight changes have been made to the sides of the coach. “The overall effect is that the unmistakeable i6 is stronger and more dynamic,” says the manufacturer.
A significant alteration under the skin of the i6S is addition of multiplex electronics, as found on the i8.
This helps diagnostics, while the cab area is also changed with the addition of a more i8-like dash and an optional multimedia interface, allowing the driver to control man vehicle functions via a single unit.
i6 Plus seats are standard with more space between rows, along with greater air-conditioning performance and 22in monitors.
While precise details of models for the UK market are not yet finalised, Irizar says that the i6S will definitely come here within the next two years. It is understood that the body will be available in both two- and three-axle form.
