New group-friendly cafe at Framlingham

English Heritage has invested £1.2m in a new 40-seat café and retail space at Framlingham Castle in Suffolk, where Mary Tudor was proclaimed Queen of England in 1553.

The facilities have been added to the rare 17th-century workhouse inside the castle walls, and an original mezzanine level has been reinstated to house a new exhibition, which tells the stories of the home and its former residents.

Highlights of the new exhibition include a walkthrough of the castle’s owners, and a lift from the ground floor makes it accessible to all.

A second phase of work will see a 360˚ wall walk built in the future.

Pre-booked coach parking is available. Groups of 11+ get 15% off.
