Last year, the National Express Employee Charity Panel donated £8,000 to over 30 different charities and community groups personally supported by the company’s UK employees, with Cancer Research UK being one of the latest charities to benefit, with £1,000 being donated.

The donation came following the efforts of NatEx West Midlands driver Nathan Reynolds, who organised a charity football match with over 20 colleagues.

Since it was launched in 2009, the Panel has awarded over £121,500 to hundreds of charities and groups across the UK.

The National Express Employee Charity Panel then voted unanimously to provide a further donation as they were so impressed by Nathan’s charitable work, taking the overall total to £1,000.

Matt Reynolds, Operations Manager at National Express West Midlands, says: “Nathan did a fantastic job of getting everybody together to do something positive for a cause that is close to our hearts. The football match was great fun and there was a real sense of team pride on the day. We’re all delighted to have beat our target and to be able to give £1,000 to Cancer Research UK.”

The Charity Panel itself is made up of employee representatives from across National Express Group’s UK businesses. The Panel meets quarterly to review applications for donations from other employees that volunteer their own time to help community groups, or actively take part in fundraising activities to raise money for their chosen charities.

Some of the other charities and groups that received donations in 2017 include Walking With The Wounded, Round Table Children's Wish, SIFA Fireside, Alzheimer's Society, Hope for Justice and the Gorlin Syndrome Group, among many others.
