The Historic Dockyard at Chatham celebrates its 400th birthday this year with Festival 400.

It’s a full programme of events taking place from now until 25 November, including exhibitions such as Powerful Tides: 400 Years of Chatham and the Sea; Museums at Night; Brick History: Walk Through History in Lego Bricks; and Untold Stories: A Celebration of Black People in Kent.

The Historic Dockyard has just received a Gold award from VisitEngland, one of only 20 attractions in the UK to achieve the accolade this year.

Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust’s Chief Executive, Bill Ferris, says: “It’s only by ensuring excellence in everything we do that we have achieved the gold standard. Gaining Gold at the start of our 400th anniversary year couldn’t be a better way to commence the many festivities planned!”
