Tavistock, Devon, is the latest town to achieve CPT ‘Coach Friendly’ status.
Says the town’s Business Improvement Development Manager Lisa Piper: “This is excellent news for Tavistock. Coach Visits are essential to the economic vitality of the town and the more we can attract the better.”
The award will elevate Tavistock’s profile and should help attract additional visitors to the town.
It comes after data showed that the last five years showed a downward trend in the numbers of coach parties visiting the town.
The town researched the causes of this drop and identified several factors.
Now, Tavistock will continue to develop its coaching strategy. Plans are already in place to produce shared resources to promote the town and its unique and independent businesses.
It is also investigating new feeder towns, such as Looe, and promoting Tavistock in these areas.
