Peninsula Transport has today launched a new online forum to further collaboration in the coach sector in the South West of England.
The sub-national transport body (STB) says the private hub is in addition to the Teams channel for the coach industry launched in May, as well as its regular in-person discussions.
Peninsula Transport has described the Teams channel as a great success and hopes the new dedicated area of the website will further enable key stakeholders in the area to host conversations, news, documents, meeting notes, event information, and other resources.
Among the seven STBs in England, the body, which brings together transport associations in Cornwall, Devon, Plymouth, Somerset and Torbay, has been at the forefront of furthering the interests of coach.
Cllr John Stephens, Chair of Peninsula Transport, says: “We are delighted with the reception to the online coach forum and this purpose-built forum on our website marks the next step in providing the region with a stronger voice and ensuring coach remains a key part of our transport future.
“With informative content and intuitive use, the forum complements the existing Teams forum and Western Gateway STB in-person coach forums.”
The establishment of the forum was one of the key missions set out in Peninsula Transport’s Coach Action Plan launched in January 2025. The body says it has also begun delivering on its other aims: the creation of an information portal for operators, increasing the number of Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) Coach Friendly destinations in the region and conducting an accessibility gap analysis of the coach network in the area.
Phil Smith, CPT Coach Manager, adds: “The South West of England continues to be a leading destination for coach tourism, and we’re delighted with the progress being made.
“Our members welcome the region’s recognition of the vital role coaches play in supporting sustainable travel, improving air quality, and easing congestion across the road network – ensuring more visitors can enjoy everything the South West has to offer responsibly.”
