Go-Ahead London is working with public transport contract and performance analytics specialist Intermoda to enhance how operational performance is tracked, analysed and reported across its network in the capital.

The operator is Transport for London’s largest contractor for the red bus network, which is what Intermoda describes as “one of the world’s most complex and performance-driven public transport environments” and utilises extensive operational metrics.

The partnership builds on Intermoda’s growing presence in the UK bus market. Recent contract awards also include for the delivery of a Bus Franchise Contract Management System and Performance Payment Calculator for the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.

Accurate, timely and defensible reporting is critical to operators in a regulated environment, the supplier notes, with those such as Go-Ahead London continuing to invest in more advanced, data-driven approaches to contract and performance management.

“Go-Ahead London is one of the most sophisticated and high-performing bus operators globally. Partnering with it to enhance how operational performance is measured, managed and optimised is a strong validation of the capability and flexibility of Intermoda’s platform,” says Intermoda CEO and co-founder John Langford-Ely.

The collaboration will initially focus on enhancing lost mileage tracking and attribution, but it “also establishes a strong foundation for broader data-driven operational improvement over time,” he continues.

“Public transport networks are becoming increasingly complex, with operators navigating the transition to electrified fleets, evolving contract models, workforce pressures, congestion, and the challenge of managing a real-time reliable service to customers.”

Mr Langford-Ely adds that with a growing number of systems in place across the bus industry, “the real challenge is bringing fragmented operational data together into a trusted, contextualised and unified source of truth. That simplifies complexity, improves decision-making, and delivers actionable intelligence. That is where Intermoda adds value.”

Go-Ahead London Managing Director Andew Edwards notes how operating a reliable and punctual bus service in London “requires a partner with proven capability and deep domain experience.”

He continues: “Utilising a flexible platform that could adapt to the specific opportunities and challenges of the London market allows us to deliver the excellent service our customers expect from us.

“Intermoda demonstrated a strong track record in public transport performance management together with a deep understanding of the complexities involved in operational performance, contractual reporting, and attribution. Its ability to tailor the platform to our requirements and work collaboratively with our team made it a strong fit for this partnership.”
