Simon Evans is to step down as North West Traffic Commissioner (TC). He will remain a Deputy TC after a successor has been appointed.

The Secretary of State will shortly advertise for a new post holder. A new Welsh TC will also be appointed to replace Nick Jones, who will leave the role upon reaching the statutory retirement age.

Says Mr Evans: “After 27 most illuminating and fulfilling months in the position of TC for the North West, I have decided to step down from my full-time responsibilities.

“I am, though, most grateful to be afforded the opportunity to revert to being a Deputy TC, and to maintain an active regulatory role, while achieving the work/life balance that I now desire.”

Mr Jones will also continue to fulfil the role of Deputy TC after his retirement.
