Owners of small businesses in England stand to benefit from a government-backed leadership programme to help with growth after coronavirus COVID-19.

The Small Business Leadership Programme (SBLP) is to be made available to senior staff of ‘small or medium-sized enterprises’ in England. To qualify, businesses must employ between five and 249 people and been operational for at least one year, and participants must be in a decision-making role ‘with at least one person reporting directly to them’.

Participants will ‘develop strategic leadership skills and the confidence to make informed decisions to boost business performance’, SBLP says. Topics covered include innovation and markets, leadership, employee engagement, operational efficiency, financial management, and action planning.

The programme will last 10 weeks and be delivered online by small business and enterprise experts from leading business schools, accredited by the Small Business Charter. It is funded by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Register to attend on its website.
