Scania to strengthen dealer network coach and bus capability

20 strategically located dealer network members will spearhead a drive by Scania (Great Britain) to ensure that operators of its coach and bus products receive specialised aftersales care “regardless of where they are located.”

The project will see significant investment in staff training and equipment by Scania and its independent dealer network over the coming two years. It has been composed to further improve the service level delivered to owners of the marque’s passenger-carrying vehicles.

While each of Scania’s 84 network points provides service cover for coach and bus chassis and drivetrains, Services Director Mark Grant says that the “diversity and complexity” of body variants, and the equipment fitted to them, “calls for additional skills and, in some cases, tooling.”

He adds: “With service centres from each of our regions – Scotland, North, East, South West and South East – and every one of our independent dealers participating in the programme, operators can rest assured of receiving the best possible coach and bus service from the Scania organisation at all times and in all areas of the country.”

Mr Grant adds that as the range of drivetrain technologies in Scania products increases, great importance will be placed on technicians being able to ensure that vehicles deliver the uptime and performance required. Training will form “a key part” of the enhanced service to coach and bus operators, he says, describing the 20 strategic locations as “a network within a network.”

Adds Sales Director – Bus, Coach and Power Solutions Martin West: “This investment is wholly in line with Scania’s prime core value: Customer first.

“The coach and bus industry has endured incredibly tough times recently. As we emerge from the pandemic, we would like every operator to know that we are there for them wherever and whenever they need us. The enhancements we are making to our network reinforce that commitment and they will enable us to deliver the service that our customers depend on.”

Specialist coach and bus dealerships will be located at:

  • Scania East: Sheffield
  • Scania North: Normanton and Washington
  • Scania Scotland: Bellshill and Edinburgh
  • Scania South East: Heathrow, Purfleet and Stansted
  • Scania South West: Avonmouth, Exeter and Fareham
  • Graham Commercials: Carlisle
  • Haydock Commercial Vehicles: Warrington
  • Keltruck: Cardiff, Nottingham and West Bromwich
  • Road Trucks: Larne
  • TruckEast: Stowmarket and Wellingborough
  • West Pennine Trucks: Trafford Park.
