Watford link adds to expanding Heathrow coach connections

A new direct coach link from Watford has become one of the newest of a growing list of services to Heathrow in the light of the recent expansion of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in London.

The RA3, operated by First Bus South in conjunction with Heathrow, adds to previous connections in the RailAir family. The journey will take 45 minutes and tickets cost ÂŁ9 for a single. It will operate hourly most of the day, seven days a week with the first service leaving Watford Junction station at 0345hours and the last departing the airport at 2340hours.

The service visits Watford Junction Station, Watford Town Hall, and Hempstead Road. At Heathrow, it will stop at Terminals 2 and 3.

The RA3 is one of 22 new or improved coach and bus services to Heathrow which have been introduced by various operators in partnership with the airport this year. The RA1 and RA2 services, which also started this summer, link Reading, Guildford and Woking with Heathrow.

First Bus South Managing Director, Simon Goff, says: “RailAir 3 is a proud addition to the RailAir family. This important new link directly connects Watford to Heathrow offering a fast, efficient service which saves passengers time and money. With new ULEZ charges potentially driving costs up, I’m delighted to be able to make travel to Heathrow easier and cheaper for our customers in Watford and beyond.”

Matthew Wooll, Heathrow’s Route Development Lead, adds: “The RA3 service is a fantastic addition to Heathrow’s public transport network. We want all of Heathrow’s passengers and colleagues to have access to good public transport at the times they need it. Travelling more sustainably will help reduce congestion and emissions, and RailAir helps keep the cost of travelling down, including discounts for families travelling together and if you work at the airport.”
