Transport UK London Bus – formerly Abellio London – has taken over the operation of Transport for London (TfL) route E6 in the west of the capital with a fleet of Wrightbus GB Kite Electroliner battery-electric single-deckers.
The buses are to the altered external style that accommodates TfL’s latest Bus Safety Standard requirements. They operate from Hayes depot, which opened in 2022, and run via Hayes on their way between Greenford and Bulls Bridge Tesco.
Among the safety technology fitted to the buses is front and nearside blind spot warning, tyre pressure monitoring, automated emergency braking, and dynamic stability. High backed seats are provided along with high resolution digital signage to deliver various real-time information to customers.
Transport UK London Bus now runs over 200 battery-electric vehicles out of a fleet of around 850. More than eight million zero-emission miles are covered per year.
Speaking about the take-up of the new service, Commercial Director Alastair Willis says: “We are delighted to mobilise the new contract on route E6 on behalf of TfL, and to operate these state-of-the-art EV buses from our Hayes depot. It is a privilege to service our customers with more zero-emission journeys.”
The then-Abellio London business ordered 80 battery-electrics from Wrightbus for delivery in 2024, with 24 GB Kite Electroliners among them.
