National Express West Midlands’ fundraising throughout 2018 raised £4,275 for CLIC Sargent, after a driver’s son used the charity’s services while fighting leukaemia.
All staff from the company’s Perry Barr garage joined in with various activities in aid of the cancer charity, including a charity golf day, head shave and a Christmas Jumper Day to round off the year.
The fundraising total includes a £500 donation from the business as recognition for the garage’s efforts to engage staff and raise money for CLIC.
The garage will continue to support CLIC Sargent throughout 2019 and is planning multiple events including a skydive.
Kelly Jones, National Express West Midlands Operations Manager, says: “I am so proud of team Perry Barr pulling together for a very worthy cause. Our aim was to raise lots of money for our chosen charity – and it really brought the garage together.
“Engagement from drivers, staff and their families helped to raise an incredible amount of money for a service that one of our own has benefitted from. We hope to continue to work together throughout 2019 to achieve even more for CLIC Sargent.
“In particular I would like to thank our Charity Ambassadors Adam Harper and Desmond Johnson, our drivers Jackie Rose, Alan Wood, Wayne Day, Ryan Shaw, Lynn Maloq, Stuart Mckenzie and our Operations Supervisors Trevor Harper and Stuart Wilkinson.”
