Former Express Motors driver Rheinallt Williams pleaded guilty at Caernarfon Crown Court to conspiring with others to commit fraud against Gwynedd Council by making false representations of concessionary travl to make a financial gain. Sentence was adjourned.

Mr Williams, of Rhyd Fadog Estate, Deiniolen, initially denied the charge and was due to stand trial next week along with the Directors of Express Motors, Eric Wyn Jones, of Gerallt, Bontnewydd, and his three sons Ian, of Carmel Road, Penygroes, Keith, 51, of Caerberllan, Llanddaniel, Anglesey, and Kevin, 54, of Llwyn Beuno, Bontnewydd, all of whom deny conspiring to commit fraud by false representation.

For the prosecution, Michael Dunford said that Mr Williams admitted that he was instructed to increase the number of concessionary passes swiped on buses and submit false claims to the scheme administered by Gwynedd Council.

Defending, Simon Rogers said that Mr Williams was of previous good character and asked the judge to adjourn sentence for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Granting Mr Williams bail, Judge Huw Rees told him it would be in his interests to co-operate with the Probation Service in the preparation of the report.

In June two drivers formerly employed by Express Motors had charges of conspiring to commit fraud against them dropped [routeone/Court Report/27 June].
