Mexican stand-off over bus stops on Harrogate route

Connexionsbuses MD Craig Temple has accused Transdev Blazefield (TB) of removing its timetables from bus stops on the Harrogate-Knaresborough route. In response, TB says it is producing stop timetables that display all operators’ information.

Mr Temple tells routeONE: “I've had all of our timetables removed, despite the cases being owned by North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC). My contact with NYCC has been strained to say the least and they said that they won't get involved and its up to us to sort it out.”

He also complains that TB has used an NYCC tender to re-time a bus service between Harrogate and Wetherby so that it runs five minutes in front of Connexionsbuses existing service.

In a statement TB says: “As a responsible, experienced and customer-focussed bus operator, we work closely with local authorities and other bus companies to ensure accurate and clearly legible information is presented to customers in a variety of ways, including online, in printed material and at bus stops.

“In pursuit of that aim, we work very hard to co-operate with Connexions Buses to reach a sensible level of co-operation to benefit passengers. We produce roadside displays complete with Connexions Buses’ own timetables embedded, which unfortunately are covered up with inaccurate information.

“Unfortunately, through no fault of our own, bus stop timetable displays on the Harrogate – Wetherby 770/771 and the Harrogate – Knaresborough route 1 have been covered and rendered illegible by inaccurate information for Connexions services, leaving customers unable to see accurate route and timetable information for our higher frequency services.

“Both operator’s timetables have since been placed into the roadside displays, which show details of both services within a single timetable. We’re satisfied that the situation has now been resolved.”
