Consultation is complete; establishment of external affairs team and recruitment of CEO to begin soon
The Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) has agreed a new structure for the organisation following a consultation of members and a Council meeting onWednesday 12 December.
While full details of what the organisation will look like in its revised form are awaited, confirmed is that the existing resources in both CPT Scotland and CPT Wales will be retained, as will the Regional Manager positions in England.
Implementation of the new structure will be from 1 April 2019. As a result, serving President Martin Dean will remain in position for the time being. He will not hand over to a successor at CPT’s annual dinner on 31 January 2019.
The new structure is something that Mr Dean is “confident will give all members what they want out of a trade body,” he explains.
“The consultation revealed an overwhelming desire for change. The way we have all worked to come up with a structure that we are comfortable with is testament to our ability to work together, but also, I would like to think, a recognition that we are stronger together.”
Focus will now turn to the establishment of an external affairs team and the recruitment of a Chief Executive. Until the new postholder is in place, Peter Gomersal will hold the position on an interim basis.
“The important point is that we have achieved a level of consensus on the structure that will underpin our new approach. This is an important and positive step forward as we move into 2019,” adds Mr Dean.
