Moorsbus – the scenic bus network in and around the North York Moors National Park – has teamed up with Sutton Bank Bikes to offer discount cycle hire in one of England’s most spectacular locations.

The deal, offering a 15% discount on bike hire – is available exclusively to members of the Friends of Moorsbus under its fast-growing ‘MoorRewards’ scheme, which offers money off everything from admission to visitor attractions and refreshments at local tea rooms to souvenirs from craft producers in the Moors area.

Up to four children travel free with every adult £8 Moors Rover bus ticket holder – which combined with the cycle hire discount deal offers an ideal way to enjoy a unique and fun-packed family Sunday at Sutton Bank, with its breathtaking views across the Vale of York to the Pennines beyond.

The Moorsbus Network is operated by the Moorsbus Community Interest Company, a volunteer-run organisation established in 2014 to support better public transport to and through the North York Moors.

It works closely with the Friends of Moorsbus, also a volunteer organisation, which supports Moorsbus through the involvement of passengers in planning and funding services.

Membership of the Friends of Moorsbus is available online at http://www.moorsbus.org and costs just £5 per year for an adult – much less than the amount which can easily be saved by taking advantage of the generous discounts on offer.

Sutton Bank Bikes is the gateway to enjoy amazing scenery in a healthy and environment-friendly way – the ride out on the stunning green Cliff Family Trail is ideal for all ages, with its 360-degree views of the National Park and beyond.

And more adventurous riders can tackle the challenging Blue Fort or Red Paradise trails across amazing moor and woodland terrain, for a true off-road experience.

Moorsbus spokesman Bill Breakell says: “Our new partnership with Sutton Bank Bikes is a great way for all the family to discover the delights of cycling in an amazing location, at a price that won’t break the bank!

“Getting to Sutton Bank with Moorsbus is easy, as we have five buses between there and Helmsley, which is right at the centre of our bus network. Our buses to Sutton Bank run every Sunday until 24 September 2017, and also on August Bank Holiday Monday, 28 August 2017 – so there’s plenty of time to plan and enjoy a day out with us.

“Our buses make it simple to reach Sutton Bank without a car from many areas, including Darlington, Teesside, York or Northallerton, and our Moorsbus services make easy connections every Sunday with trains at Thirsk, Danby and Malton, opening up our network to people right across the North.

“We’re very excited to be able to offer this great value deal through our Moor Rewards programme, which is growing all the time. And, as well as benefiting from the many discounts on offer, those who join the Friends of Moorsbus are also helping to keep our growing network of bus services on the road year after year.”

Full ticket and timetable details for Moorsbus, including how to join the Friends of Moorsbus scheme and benefit from the range of discounts is available online at: http://www.moorsbus.org.

Sutton Bank Bikes opens from 10am to 5pm throughout the Moorsbus season: photo ID (a passport or photocard driving licence) is required to hire cycles. Its website is packed with information and videos featuring the trails from its base at the Sutton Bank Visitor Centre – go to: http://www.suttonbankbikes.co.uk or call 01845 597759 to find out more
